2011, 08th of November Action Against Hunger (ACF) was founded by a group of prominent French figures in response to the emergency caused by Afghan refugees fleeing to Pakistan to escape fighting in 1979, with the aim of eradicating hunger in a more global, lasting and effective way worldwide. ACF’s mission consists of saving lives via the prevention, detection and treatment of malnutrition, in particular during and following disasters and conflicts. The organisation focuses its activities on an integrated approach, taking various aspects into account: “Nutrition, health and healthcare practices”, “Food security and livelihoods”, “Water, sanitation and hygiene” and “Advocacy and awareness-raising”. In 2009, ACF-International was active in over 40 countries, coming to the aid of around 5 million individuals. We are looking for: A FIELD COORDINATOR
Country: Dollo Ado, Ethiopia
Length of Contract: 6 months, as soon as possible
Responsibilities: - Overall management of the programs and support activities and staff of the Dollo Ado programs • With the support of the local PMs and the Technical Advisers in AA, participate and contribute to the development of new projects including feasibility, draft of concept notes and LFA • Support the PM in implementing a sound monitoring system • Support PMs in human resource and general management issues, budget follow-up and forecast, partner relations, external and internal communication; • Coordinate closely with the Country finance, HR and logistics Managers ensuring good lines of communication between supports and program departments; • Support the PMs to ensure that sound budget management practices are followed and all reporting practices are in line with donor requirements; review practices on a regular basis; • Support the PMs to ensure that each project is carried on schedule and according to approved internal plans, proposals and other contracts with donors and third parties;… - Overall management of the security of all bases in the camps • Directly manage security incidents and reporting in Dolo area under the supervision of Country logistics manager / Country director; • Be the focal point for security management in Dolo, supervising the Base Logistician; • Validate field movement planning according to security plan,… - Continuous strategic analysis of the security and humanitarian context in the region - Representation of ACF and liaison with authorities, UN, NGOs at field and regional level - Line managing PMs, Log, admin and HR base - Reporting and communication
Qualification and previous experience: - At least three years of field experiences in operational management of humanitarian programs - A proven track record on project management on one of the following topic (Wash,FS,Nutrition) - Excellent capacity of strategic humanitarian context analysis - Proven record of security and base management in development and post-crisis settings - Strong management skills and leadership, pro-activity - Strong communication, networking and representation - Experiences in capacity building of national staff required - Basic knowledge of ACF Logistics and Admin procedures is advantageous - Good team worker, facilitator and mediator
Status: Employee - Fixed-term contract, provided by ACF according to the French labour law. - Total average yearly gross income: from 41160 € to 47160 € • Food and housing: 1000 € / month average • Per Diem : 210 € / month average • Support to the R & R costs : 110 € / month average • Transportation costs to and from the mission : 460 € / month average • Monthly gross salary ranging from 1650 € to 2150 € (Net: from 1518 € to 1978 €) depending on relevant experience (possibility to increase up to 2750 € gross (2530 € net) according to seniority and performances) - 25 days of annual paid leaves - 20 days of R & R per year (taken as recovery time breaks of one week every 2 or 4 months depending on the mission) - Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution - Accompanied position (partner, children) according to the place of assignment - Training before departure and all along the career with Action Contre la Faim.
