The MaCHT is a four year child survival project – Operations Research, Innovative Category, funded by USAID has three components; MNCH, BCC and Operations Research. The Project manager will provide overall leadership in the implementation of largely community based interventions in Gogrial East and West counties, Warrap State, South Sudan – that aims at improved access to MNCH services in order to reduce MMR and IMR, which are the highest in the world. This position will entail planning, support and management of the program so that activities and outputs remain on track and the program achieves its objectives of improving the coverage and access to Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Services among targeted beneficiaries. Operations research component is key to this project as we envisioned demonstrating that by working with community owned resources, we could make an impact in improved access to MNCH services
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and administrative management for a large US government child survival grant in south Sudan in order to ensure the successful implementation of maternal and child health program interventions and meet the designated program goals and objectives
Provide technical oversight, administration, fiscal management, and grant and contract administration and management, assuring quality, impact and cost effectiveness of the project
Provide overall vision, strategic direction, and implementation planning
Assemble and motivate a team of local staff, short-term consultants and local implementing partners Ensure completion of all activities related to baseline assessments, operations research, monitoring, mid-term and final evaluation of the project
Provide leadership and coordination to ensure technical excellence of project activities
Effectively implement the project vision, supervise personnel and guide office operations
Develop specific action plans to incorporate the learning’s from the operational research to strengthen the functioning of CS and partner organizations.
Represent World Vision at key health sector inter-agency, government and other partner meetings for coordination, information sharing, and dissemination of program activities and results
Liaise with USAID, partner organizations, and the WV Regional and HQ offices for support in successful and effective implementation of the project
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
MD or Nursing/Midwifery graduate with public health experience, or professional in the social or health sciences, with training in community health;
At least three years of experience managing primary health care programs, including familiarity with maternal, newborn and child survival interventions;
At least three years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams; Work experience in conflict/post conflict environments;
Excellent communication, problem solving and teambuilding skills;
Working knowledge of USAID contracts and reporting procedures;
Extensive experience as a project manager required, including experience managing a cross-cultural team.
PREFERRED:
Five years of experience managing primary health care programs
