POSITION SUMMARY
The primary function of the Program Manager includes supporting the Country Director in the planning, design, implementation, supervision, expansion/development and administration of all International Medical Corps - Burundi programs, specifically two multi-year health and nutrition programs. This position will lead nutrition-specific activities within International Medical Corps Prevention of Malnutrition in Children Under 2 Approach (PM2A) in Burundi.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• In close collaboration with the Country Director and HQ, oversee all program implementation, monitoring and reporting for two multi-year assistance programs (MYAP) and additional health, nutrition and gender-based violence projects • Oversee training and implementation of PH/Hearth and facility-based CMAM treatment programs • Ensure proper and compliant implementation of program branding and marking across all sites and printed materials • Supervise expatriates and national program staff while coordinating the implementation of all components of the program to make sure that all inputs are provided on time and objectives and deliverables are met on schedule • Remain actively aware of national policies, strategies and other initiatives and developments by government and other stakeholders in the area of activities placed under his responsibilities. • Identify and actively represent organization at all relevant external task forces and working groups • Build on technical knowledge, research and current/previous programming to develop proposals for new program initiatives or projects in health, nutrition and other relevant interventions • Actively contribute to Program Policy and Planning meetings through the compilation and co-ordination of progress reports against the relevant indicators of achievement in approved Thematic and Annual Operational Plans and through technical input as required • Make frequent sites visits (including facility or project visits) to ensure that program activities are implemented and reviewed appropriately • Responsible for national staff selection, recruitment, and dismissal procedures in relation to the projects in conjunction with the HR Manager and Country Director • Maintain good inter-team communications and take suitable action when problems occur • Carry out supervisory duties and appraisals per processes and procedures • Oversee all finance and logistics request related to program activities • Assist in the selection and training of qualified program field staff • Participate in a positive team environment by sharing information, skills and knowledge with colleagues • Participate in Senior Program meetings and organize informal and formal meetings with program staff • Submit appropriate weekly and monthly reports of Bujumbura and sites based activities and reviews monthly reports and annexes from the sites before submission to the Country Director • Provide written input on program/training needs for pipelines, on monthly basis • Manage proposal and donor report development • Maintain up-to-date program files
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Master's degree in nutrition, public health nutrition or social and behavior change • Minimum of 5 years working with USAID/Office of Food for Peace development programs (MYAPs, SYAPS, DAPs, MYOPs, etc) • Minimum of 5 years nutrition team management experience • Minimum of 2 years managing client and counterpart relationships with regards to nutrition • Strong experience in social and behavior change programs required. • Experience in managing PM2A preferred • Experience in community mobilization required • Experience working with care group, peer group or similar models required
