Job Title: Communication Manager (1 position)
The communication manager will be responsible for conveying Sustainable Agriculture Tanzania (SAT) its internal and external messages. He/she will draft written materials, prepare presentations and communicate with employees and stakeholders.
The goal is to expand the Communication Department which will allow the organisation to further build and strengthen partnerships in Tanzania and outside the country. The objective will be to present SAT as a vibrant organisation to stakeholders, interested parties and to the public, to share the success stories of organic farmers through articles and social media, to advertise SAT services and to acquire grants for supporting small scale farmers in Tanzania and to enable and foster communication among staff and SAT farmers. For being able to achieve this in an excellent way, the communication manager will be close to the executive and Program Department, so that he/she can feel the heartbeat of the organisation.
Skills and Qualifications:
a. Minimum Bachelors or Master’s degree in communication, public relations,
journalism, or any other relevant field,
b. Minimum 2 years’ experience working as communication manager in a
reputable organization,
c. Proven record of successful communication and fundraising is an added
advantage
d. Strong passion for sustainable agriculture,
e. Must be an excellent team player,
f. Excellent communication skills in English, Swahili and preferably in German,
g. Excellent social media skills,
h. Have basic software skills for layout and homepage design,
i. Being profound in proofreading,
j. Strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities for this position will include:
• Public Relations
o Create awareness about SAT through social media, using Twitter and
Facebook, through periodically updated homepages and through monthly email
newsletters
o Maintain current contact details of relevant journalists, respond to media
enquiries, and prepare media statements and compile press kits
o Advertise SAT Farmer Training Courses and other relevant services
o Research and prepare relevant subject matters, write speeches and prepare
presentations
• Fundraising
o Communicate with private donors from Europe (letter of thanks, pictures,
small reports, phone calls…)
o Organise for and welcome donors and other guests and introduce them to the
organisation
o Write proposals for SAT for grants, awards and fellowships
• Reporting
o Attend meetings and read staff reports to be aware about project progress
o Coordinate relevant projects and prepare and proof-read project reports
o Guide the preparation of the annual report
o Enable a conducive information flow within the organization
• Planning and Monitoring
o Develop a yearly plan for communication department (incl. Budget)
o Prepare internal and external communications plans and policies
o Monitor progress and activities of the department (e.g. Activity plan)
Job Title: Programme cum M&E manager (1 position)
The Programme cum M&E manager oversees the implementation of SAT programs and
projects and periodically informs executive about progress. He/She provides strategic guidance
to teams and project managers and builds relationships with strategic partners. The ideal
candidate is self-driven, an excellent leader and has experience in managing staff of different
disciplines to produce results in a timely manner. He/she should be able to develop efficient
strategies and tactics.
The Programme cum M&E manager is responsible for overseeing the M&E department at SAT and to develop the Management Information System (MIS). He/she plans and manages the collection of data to measure the impact of implemented projects and to improve performance of activities and as well data for publishing success stories or research.
The goal is to ensure that all projects deliver the desirable outcome which is periodically measured and analyzed. For being able to achieve this, the programme cum M&E manager will be close to the executive so that he/she can feel the heartbeat of the organization.
Skills and Qualifications:
a. Master’s Degree in Project Management, M&E, Agriculture or any other
relevant field
b. Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a management position.
c. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the design and implementation of M&E/MIS
in development projects implemented by national or international NGOs.
d. Must be proactive and a self-driver
e. Strong passion for sustainable agriculture,
f. Be an excellent team player and proficient at motivating and working with
others,
g. Having excellent problem-solving ability
h. Knowledge and experience with MS Access and data collection software
Responsibilities for this position will include;
• Develop the M&E component at SAT
o Preparation of monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports
o Develop and maintain M&E framework for the Projects
o Assist the Project Managers in preparing other relevant reports
o Organize and conduct training on M&E/MIS for project and government staff
o Produce data collection tools and prepare and maintain data base
o Conduct baseline and follow-up surveys
• Formulating, organizing and managing programs & projects
o Designing and developing or assisting with design and development of projects.
o Work closely with fundraising and communications team to share information
about programme portfolio, specific projects and programme impact
o Development of annual plans and operating budgets as well as their
implementation
o Managing and overseeing the administrative and daily operations of SAT
programme, ensuring compliance to policies and regulations
o Overseeing the supervision of personnel, and providing technical and/or
professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day
program/project activities.
o Collaborating with SAT departments, projects and SAT farmer network to
consolidate resources and enhance programs.
o Overseeing and/or coordinating the collection, compilation, and analysis of
program activity data; developing, writing, and presenting comprehensive
statistical and narrative program reports.
