RESEARCH OFFICER
(REF: EAC/HR/2013-2014/003)
Grade: P1
Reports to: Registrar
Organ/Institution: East African Court of Justice (EACJ)
Station : EAC Headquarters-Arusha, Tanzania
Main Purpose of the Job:
Facilitate research and inform ation services to the Judges and staff of the East African Court of Justice and provide technical support in research, documentation and dissemination of information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Establish research, documentation and information dissemination systems for the Court.
2. Facilitate Research and dissemination of findings to the Judges.
3. Document and maintain research findings.
4. Ensure documentation and dissemination of research findings.
5. Research and documen t information on various subjects for use by the Judges.
6. Organize and catalogu e the work and output of the Court.
7. Develop research linkages with the Judiciaries in the Partner States, Courts with similar jurisdiction and other relevant institutions and organizations.
Qualifications and Experience:
i) A Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized University and post graduate qualification in Law.
ii) 5 years experience in legal research.
Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should have good interpersonal, and communication skills as well as excellent research and report writing skills. S/he must be proficient in the use of Computer office applications.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
This post is tenable on a five (5) year contract term renewable once upon satisfactory performance and is subject to the application of the EAC Quota System.
In line with the provisions of the EAC Staff Rules and Regulations, Candidates whose age will be 55 years at the time of appointment will not be eligible.
