Full-Time, Fixed-Term appointment for 12 months, in the first instance.
Post will be based within Ifakara, Tanzania
LSTM is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Via creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions, and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM promotes improved health, particularly for people in resource poor countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.
The Department of Vector Biology leads a number of large operational research projects and has a particular strength in the control of mosquito borne diseases. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to join our current team of researchers based at the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) in Tanzania. This successful candidate will work with national and international researchers exploring innovative ways of controlling malaria by using adult mosquitoes to disseminate insect growth regulators. You will use your hands on field experience in vector control, gained within resource poor environments, to positively impact the projects aims and objectives. The varied role will include data synthesis, planning and implementation field trials, and dissemination of results.
Educated to PhD level you will have experience of co-ordinating field based projects with the ability to collate and analyse data. Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of people are crucial to the role. You will be required to work to tight deadlines so excellent time management and organisational skills are essential as is an excellent working knowledge of MS Office applications.
