The Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (EASTC), which was established in 1965, is an accredited Higher Learning Institution whose commitment and mandate is to offer training, research and consultancy programmes and services in Official Statistics. As an academic discipline, Official Statistics is collection and processing of data into statistical information which is disseminated to help users who are policy analyst and Decision makers in their national economic and social development programmes.
To respond to user demands, EASTC offers courses in Official Statistics at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels. Currently it is serving eighteen countries (18) from Eastern and Southern Africa, whose statistical manpower demands are increasing year by year. To respond to these manpower demands EASTC has to train more Official Statisticians. EASTC is therefore inviting potential candidates to apply for the following posts at EASTC.
3.1 ESTATE OFFICER II – 1 POST
3.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises maintenance and cleaning of infrastructure, properties and grounds
- Performs simple designs for improvements of the existing infrastructures
- Examines bills of quantities.
- Follows-up of title deeds and acquisition of land
- Prepares budgets for minor construction and maintenance works
- Assists in planning of estate activities and services
- Assists in designing infrastructure development projects
- Performs any other official duties assigned by his/her seniors
3.1.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and Full Technician Certificate in Civil Engineering from a recognized higher learning institution and has been registered with Engineers Registration Board. Has knowledge of using basic computer software of AutoCAD, Excel and Ms Access for planning estate works.
- Able to prepare BOQ and engineering estimates for rehabilitation and construction works.
- At least Three (3) years working experience in a similar position OR has worked/supervised construction projects.
3.1.3 TERMS OF SERVICES
- Permanent and pensionable terms and favorable conditions of service.
3.1.4 REMUNARATION:
Attractive remuneration salary according to institution`s scale PGSS 10
