Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe is to implement a Project on Strengthening the Economic Power of Women in the Informal Cross border Trade within the framework of the East African Community integration with the support of Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA).
The project mainly focuses on realising the following key results:
1. Analysis of key documents on EAC regional integration with major focus on trade issues,
2. Identify informal cross border traders, challenges they encounter and advocate for changes,
3. Increase their awareness about existing rights and opportunities in matters of trade within the framework of EAC Integration and
4. Strengthen the economic power of women in informal cross border trade and be able to cross to formal trade
It is in this regard that Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe is looking for a suitable candidate to fill a position for a Project Officer.Under the supervision of Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe National Executive Secretary, the Project Officer will undertake the following specific tasks;
-Elaborate a clear strategy and work plan for supporting women in informal cross border trade.
- Support Pro-Femmes to analyze EAC protocols related to trade and advise areas that need advocacy;
-Support Pro-Femme to build coalitions and coordinate activities related to trade within the frame work of EAC integration as need arises.
-Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting on project advancement
-Represent Pro-femmes in TMEA meetings and other For a or meetings relevant to trade and others as may be required -Collaborate with a project focal point at TMEA and provide update to Pro-femmes management.
-Perform other tasks as shall be advised by the supervisors at Pro-Femmes.
REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, management, social sciences with a focus on gender or any other related fields
-At leastthreeyears progressive experience in trade specifically related to gender issues.
-Strong understanding of the East African Community Integration
-Strong experience and knowledge of civil society in Rwanda -Experience and knowledge of national and regional issues relevant to trade
-Experience in Networking, building coalitions, lobbying and advocacy especially for gender related issues
-Understanding of Human rights based approach
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda. Knowledge of French is an added advantage
- Excellent communicator orally and in writing.
-Innovative, self –driven and team player
-Interpersonal skill with experience of working in multicultural contexts
