Join us as Head of Global Media and you will have the opportunity to establish a new Global Media Unit for Save the Children.
2011 has seen Save the Children at the forefront of media presence through our largest ever campaign ‘No Child Born to die’. We’ve inspired massive new investment in vaccines that will save 4 million children’s lives by 2015 and secured commitments to train and equip more health workers so more children can see a doctor or nurse.
2012 will see Save the Children is embarking on an exciting new phase of its development. As the world’s leading charity for children, we want to strengthen our global voice to ensure that the public and decision makers’ attention is focused on the challenges facing the world’s poorest children.
Working with 29 Save the Children members across the globe, our global centre Save the Children International and our programme teams in the developing world, the Head of Global Media will help to position Save the Children as the world’s leading charity for children and significantly raise the profile of the agency’s work through greater media visibility.
You’ll lead a small team in London, working closely with global humanitarian and campaigns teams, senior media colleagues in Save the Children member organisations and our programme countries.
We see you bringing to the role experience leading a busy press office as a senior print or broadcast journalist, or equivalent professional media communications experience in an international environment. You’ll need to be a great communicator with excellent editorial judgement combined with a track record of obtaining media coverage across globally influential media such as France 24, APTN, BBC World, CNN & Al Jazeera.
In return we offer the opportunity to work with leaders in the sector to create dramatic change for children at the most important moment in our 90 year history.
Save the Children works in over 120 countries; saving lives, fighting for children’s rights and helping them reach full potential.
