Unity State, South Sudan - Samaritan’s Purse has been responding to the refugee crisis in Unity State, South Sudan since August 2011. Programming currently includes Yida transit camp for Nuban refugees and contains projects in Nutrition, Water/Sanitation, Hygiene, Food Security, and Reproductive Health. Unity State, South Sudan is a fascinating and challenging place to work with insecurity, austere field locations and basic accommodations.
This position reports directly to the Unity State Coordinator and is responsible for overseeing, managing, and ensuring the success of all nutrition and health projects. Major responsibilities include field level program implementation of inpatient and outpatient programs, monitoring and evaluation, program planning, liaising with local government and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) partners, staff capacity building, and internal liaising with senior staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health, Nutrition or other relevant degree; related work experience in disaster context. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred • 2-3 years nursing experience preferably pediatric and/or emergency medicine is preferred. • 1-2 years previous international public health experience, preferably in nutrition programming is preferred. • Strong clinical leadership and ability to make vital medical treatment decisions without the presence of a doctor on the ground. • Experience in managing national staff and capacity building in International NGO programming. • Ability to work in austere conditions with few amenities or resources. • Willingness to live and work near a hostile border with periods of insecurity. • Flexibility and a “can do” attitude in the midst of an ever evolving program and a constantly changing political/social environment. • Arabic a strong asset.
12 month contract with the potential for renewal.
