CHF International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastoralist Livelihoods Diversification Advisor for a proposed USAID-funded program in Ethiopia focusing on improving the resiliency and adaptive capacity of pastoral communities to climate change through market expansion. The Pastoral Resiliency Improvement and Market Expansion (PRIME) project will concentrate on climate change, pastoralism/livestock and chronic vulnerability as it aims to increase household incomes and enhance resilience and adaptive capacity to climate change through market linkages. The Pastoralist Livelihoods Diversification Advisor will be responsible for leading the approach to diversify livelihoods of vulnerable populations and to integrate household assets into value chain activities. The Pastoralist Livelihoods Diversification Advisor will work closely with experts from other USAID/Ethiopia Pastoral and livestock programs as well as private sector actors to design and implement innovative livelihood diversification approaches.
Qualifications: •Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Livestock, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or related field. •Minimum of 5 years experience working with vulnerable, marginalized and pastoralist/agro-pastoralist groups. •5 years of experience with innovative value chain development or business models, preferably in pastoralist areas of the Horn of Africa. •Proven experience working on value chain development in pastoralist areas. •Experience working on USAID projects preferred. •Experience working in Ethiopia preferred.
