Junior Expert (focus: Organizational capacity building)
Kirundo, Burundi
The position is to be filled by 1 Mai 2016 and has an initial contract duration of 24 months. The job is based in Kirundo Province in Burundi.
Aims and duties of the role
As Junior Expert for ‘’Organizational capacity building”, you will provide technical support to the Head of Project and project staff for the implementation of the School feeding program in Kirundo Province / Burundi and assist local agricultural organizations and farmers in the setup of functional / productive structures for the supply of basic food items based on the WFP P4P (Purchase for Progress) approach.
Your most important duties:
- Identify, plan and implement training and coaching needs for agricultural cooperatives and farmer associations;
- Assist cooperatives and associations in the setup of a platform for better cooperation between organisations assisted by the project;
- Assist farmer associations and cooperatives in obtaining legal documents (registration); assist in elaboration of contracts between farmers (producers) and cooperatives (commercialisation); introduce the concept of contract farming;
- Conception, implementation, analysing and reporting of P4P baseline study;
- Setup of a M&E program for the P4P activities, continuous upgrading the M&E systems and documentation;
- Assist farmers and farmer associations / cooperatives in the elaboration of strategies and procedures for better access to credits / financial institutions (microfinances);
- Support project reporting;
- Support project development / proposal writing.
As a qualified applicant, you will possess the following:
- A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant subject (Int. development, economics, etc.)
- Good writing skills
- Good communication skills and capacities for group animation and teamwork
- Good human relationships, sense for institutional relations and diplomacy
- Ability to work in a team/skilled team player
- Working experience in Sub-Sahara Africa is an asset
- Good command of French and English, both spoken and written
- Command of German is an asset
