About IBJ
International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to ensuring the basic legal rights of ordinary citizens in developing countries. Specifically, IBJ works to guarantee all citizens the right to competent legal representation, the right to be protected from cruel and unusual punishment and the right to a fair trial.
IBJ welcomes committed volunteers who wish to intern with us. We accept interns throughout the year, in our head office in Geneva and in countries in which we have programs. This internship would be at the Geneva Head Office. Internships are unpaid and are handled with flexibility (full time or part time). We ask that interns commit to working with us for a minimum of 12 weeks.
Position
IBJ has a database of information gathered over the last 15 years. Information that relates to our programs, funding, proposals, marketing materials, case studies etc.
It needs a complete overhaul and reorganization of documents by someone with the kind of competencies we believe are learned and developed in library science studies;
· Concepts and issues related to the lifecycle of recorded knowledge and information, from creation through various stages of use to disposition.
· Concepts, issues, and methods related to the acquisition and disposition of resources, including evaluation, selection, purchasing, processing, storing, and de- selection.
· Concepts, issues, and methods related to the maintenance of collections, including preservation and conservation.
· Organization of Recorded Knowledge and Information
· The developmental, descriptive, and evaluative skills needed to organize recorded knowledge and information resources.
· Techniques used to retrieve, evaluate, and synthesize information from diverse sources for use by individuals.
Skills Needed
The ideal candidate is a current student/recent graduate with a penchant for organization and a specialty in this kind of detailed work.
CPM Software such as Salesforce
Experience in managing and setting up database systems
Experience in using site-traffic-tracking software such as Google Analytics
Ideally proficient in written and spoken English and French Good interpersonal and communication skills
