Position Description:

UZIKWASA is a civil society organization that pioneers creative and innovative grassroots interventions in Pangani District. In the past 10 years UZIKWASA has established a dynamic relationship with local communities through holistic programs that focus on facilitating gender responsive grass root leadership. This is re-enforced by a multimedia communication campaign that use feature films, Theatre for development, interactive radio programs and radio drama for an on-going social dialogue among diverse community groups. We are looking for a young and energetic community development practitioner who is excited to join a creative and committed team and to serve people in rural areas. Community Outreach Officer (Re-advertisement)

Includes the following tasks:

In collaboration with the communication team and Pangani FM staff s/he participates in outreach activities including village cinema and theatre shows where s/he will facilitate audience participation and community debates. S/he will also be part of facilitative leadership trainings to village leaders and school committees and assist them to understand and fulfil their leadership responsibilities and to identify community needs.

UZIKWASA is a learning organization and the position holder is expected to actively participate in organisational learning events. This may include various tasks in a complex integrated impact and process monitoring system that guides UZIKWASA interventions as well as team building events.

Specifically s/he will:

Participate in outreach activities such as Halafu Camps to all 33 Pangani villages

Participate in theatre for development activities and village cinema shows

Assist UZIKWASA facilitators of transformative leadership interventions and acquire new skills in the process of facilitative learning.

Collaborate with other program staff and the MERL team and participate in monitoring activities such as

Serial Participatory Action research, diary study and case study collection and other learning events.

Maintain effective partnerships with stakeholders at village and district level

Competence:

The applicant has a heart for rural communities and is confident in providing and receiving feedback and in facilitating others. S/he is keen to work in an environment of shared learning and innovation.

Qualifications:

Degree in Community Development and at least 1 year of experience in community outreach work.

Advanced computer skills and sound writing skills in English and Kiswahili.
