The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position in our Programme Team.
The position will be based in Dushanbe.
The Internship will be for a period of no less than 6 months (extendable) starting from October 2015.
Description
The selected candidate will be part of the Programme Team in the WFP Tajikistan Country Office and will be responsible for
- Prepare public information material on WFP's activities in Tajikistan in the form of newspaper articles, articles in development magazines, fact sheets, information flyers, etc.
- Draft press releases and support the Head of Programme on the compilation of the monthly Executive Brief;
- Support the Management in the preparation of media talking points, briefings, project and funding proposals;
- Develop the WFP Tajikistan yearly communication plan and update it on a monthly basis in consultation with the concerned sections;
- Update WFP Tajikistan's website (and ensure linkages to agency-specific websites);
- Monitor and advise on new possibilities to enhance the visibility of WFP's activities in Tajikistan;
- Liaise with WFP's Regional Public Information Office on a regular basis to provide engaging content for use on regional and corporate internal/public information platforms;
- Support knowledge management activities to improve sharing of information between the Country Office (Dushanbe) and Sub-Offices (Khujand, Kurgan-Tyube, Khorog, Gharm);
- Review and identify opportunities to raise funds from non-traditional donors, including from the private sector;
- Organise donor/partners meetings and field trips and prepare information notes on the WFP's activities;
- Document 'success stories' that highlight WFP's impact in Tajikistan with the support of key donors and partners;
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly activities reports for Regional Bureau and Headquarters, as required;
- Draft and edit donor materials including reports, briefs and visibility materials, in collaboration with relevant units;
- Liaise with development/humanitarian partners in country to ensure that WFP's strategy and activities are adequately understood and reflected in common documents;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Currently enrolled or have recently graduated from a University degree in International Affairs, Public Affairs, MBA or similar;
- Have completed at least two years of undergraduate study;
- Have attended courses in the last 12 months;
- Proficiency in MsOffice (Word, Excel, Power Point);
- Fluent in English, with excellent writing skills.
Terms and Conditions
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP (approximately US$420 for Tajikistan);
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
