Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation-Tanzania (Baylor-Tanzania) is a Non Governmental Organization (N.GO) dedicated to supporting the provision of high quality comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment to HIV-Infected children and adolescents in the Lake and Southern Highlands Zones of Tanzania through service delivery, training and research. Baylor -Tanzania i part of the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) Clinical Centre's of Excellence Network which is headquartered at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, U.S.A.
Through collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USATD) and the government of Tanzania, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW), Baylor - Tanzania is looking for highly motivated, well- qualified individuals to join its growing program team
Position Summary:
In conjunction with the Associate Medical Director (AMD), to oversee the day to day operation of the Centre of Excellence (COE)
To provide clinical supervision to clinical staff in the provision of comprehensive family-centered pediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment to patients in the Zonal Referral Hospital, COE and outreach facilities.
To help coordinate COE and extramural capacity building activities including didactic trainings, clinical mentoring and clinical attachments.
Along with the Executive Director and other Baylor College of Medicine Children's Foundation - Tanzania leadership, to provide technical assistance to health care workers regarding pediatric and general HIV/A1DS care through didactic training, clinical mentoring and clinical attachments in all settings.
To provide technical assistance to the Republic of Tanzania Mini try of Health and Social Welfare through advocating for the provision of comprehensive pediatric health care; participation on national committees and working groups; providing input and guidance on national guidelines and curricula, etc.
To support education of medical trainees in general and HIV/AIDS specific pediatric medicine facilitating clinical rotations and attachments at the COEs, by attending on pediatric wards, attending morning report, journal club and other educational activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination and scheduling of clinical staff activities. On a daily basis, to asses and revise staff assignments as necessary to assure adequate coverage of all program activities and to ensure efficient patient flow
Attending to patients in the pediatric wards of the Zonal Referral Hospital, the Baylor Tanzania Centre of Excellence and in outreach facilities. . '
Providing education to medical trainees regarding pediatric and general HI V /AIDS care.
Providing technical assistance to health care providers in pediatric and general HIV/AIDS prevention, diagnosis, care, treatment and complications both within the COE as well as in outside facilities.
Actively participate in CME activities and other meetings in all clinical 'and educational settings.
Other specific tasks as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills
Masters of Medicine in Pediatrics/Medical degree from a recognized and accredited medical school.
Registered by the Tanganyika Medical Council as a Medical Doctor with at least two years of working experience Excellence in general pediatric medical care
Familiarity with general HIV care and treatment
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet computer programs
Knowledge of computer skills is an added advantage
