SIC is seeking a detail-oriented, self-directed individual to manage essential administrative duties of our dynamic office in Arusha, Tanzania. This position will have a direct impact on SIC's mission while also handling the functional aspects of the organization. We are looking for someone with a competitive professional skill set who will contribute to the overall success of the organization through internal operations management, donor communication, and financial systems. This is a one-year position with possibility to extend. The position is based in Arusha, Tanzania.
Responsibilities: The Office Administrator is responsible for the financial, development and communication systems of SIC.
- Take overall responsibility for all financial functions of the office including:
- maintaining and improving financial systems including cash disbursement and monthly accounting
- completing financial reports for the executive team, donors and the TZ government
- ensuring all labor and NGO requirements are met (employment taxes, social security, annual registration fees, etc.)
- working together with TZ and US, adapting annual budgets, as needed
- Manage the administrative duties of human resources to ensure SIC is complying with contractual and governmental requirements.
- Contribute to relationships and requirements of external donors (reporting, site visits, communication).
- Lead in-country development of social media content.
- Develop systems that will lead to more efficient operations in areas such as supplies and scheduling.
- Perform any other tasks designated by the Executive Director in the US, and the Operations and Programs Manager in Tanzania.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree or higher.
- Strong organizational skills, and proven ability to multitask.
- Experience in administration, finance or other relevant field.
- Good people skills and ability to be tough when necessary.
- Experience living and working in a developing country and/or cross-cultural environment preferred.
Terms: Ideal applicants will be available to begin work early January 2014. The position is compensated at a stipend level and resident permit costs are included. Round-trip international airfare is included for those applying from outside Tanzania.
