Seeking: Head of the Energy Services Division
Devergy East Africa seeks to complement its senior management team in Tanzania. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly talented individual to contribute to and own part of one of the most promising companies in the energy access sector in Africa.

Devergy East Africa installs and operates its proprietary high tech, low cost, solar powered microgrids in offgrid villages. Through Devergy, offgrid households receive modern light, can charge their mobile phones and are able to use other modern appliances such as TVs, radios, computers, etc. Devergy is pursuing a profitable business model and is expanding rapidly in Tanzania.
Devergy East Africa is the Tanzanian subsidiary of the Devergy Group. The Devergy Group will be a panAfrican energy services company and already has operations in Tanzania, as Devergy East Africa, and Ghana, as Persistent Energy Ghana. Devergy is owned by Persistent Energy Partners and Devergy’s founders.

We seek an entrepreneurial minded, highly talented individual to join this team in a senior management position in Tanzania.
Head of Enserve
As Head of Enserve (Energy Services division) the incumbent will coordinate Sales, Marketing and Distribution for Devergy East Africa. The Head of Enserve has two primary responsibilities: growing the customer base and ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction. These responsibilities include development of new markets, defining Devergy’s products and service offerings, development and management of Devergy’s agent and customer service network and brand development.
Tasks and responsibilities
Tasks and responsibilities include:
• Growing the customer base, identifying and enlisting new villages for installation of microgrids, manage marketing campaigns
• Recruit, train and manage agent network. The agent networks main tasks are:
• Signup customers for services and appliance sales/leasing
• Install meters and plugnplay appliances
• Ongoing sale of prepaid services
• Identify customer demand and provide feedback to improve offerings
• Measure division performance and report to CEO
The following Key Performance Metrics (KPMs) will be used to evaluate the performance of the division:
• Average Revenue per User (ARPU)
• Customer acquisition: New customers per month, Absolute and relative to potential connections
• Customer retention, as a measure of customer satisfaction
Qualifications
The following qualification and experience are assets:
• 5 years or more in relevant work experience
• Excellent communication skills in English required? proficiency in Swahili desired
• Sales or Marketing of consumer goods in East Africa
• Startup experience
• Experience in building, managing network of sales/service agents
• MBA, MSc or equivalent degree
Work location
Dar es Salaam - frequent national and some international travel will be required.
Compensation and arrangements
The compensation is negotiable, including an equity component in line with typical venture businesses. The position starts in January 2014.
