Description: The Department of General Management at the Bissett School of Business invites applications for a tenure track position which will commence August 15, 2013, subject to final budgetary approval at the rank of Assistant Professor. Priority will be given to entry level candidates.
The Bissett School of Business is a primary destination for undergraduate students seeking high quality business education. The school employs 50 full-time faculty and a number of part-time instructors. The faculty is comprised of a highly motivated group of scholars, who are passionate about teaching while engaged in innovative scholarship. In order to support its objectives, the Bissett School of Business benefits from the associated Institute for Nonprofit Studies and the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship – making the school unique among Canadian undergraduate business schools.
The Bissett School of Business offers a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Students can pursue majors in accounting, general management, human resources, or marketing. In addition to the four majors, the Bissett School of Business offers many minors, including business and society, entrepreneurship, financial services, risk management, international business, nonprofit studies, and supply chain management, and a diploma in aviation. Approximately 2,000 students are enrolled in the school’s programs.

Duties: New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/scholarship/service pattern has a focus on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/service pattern has a focus on teaching and service only. There is an option to change work patterns after tenure.
The successful applicant must be qualified to teach introductory and senior level human resources courses. Faculty in the TSS pattern are expected to establish a high quality research program. In addition, the individual should be prepared to maintain active liaison with industry partners or professional associations and be involved with course and program development.
Qualifications: A completed or close to completion PhD in Human Resources is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a post-secondary institution. Firsthand human-resource management experience will also be taken into account. As a new scholar, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a promising scholarship agenda; a holistic understanding of the human resources function would be an asset.
