Duties and Responsibilities
The officer will be responsible for guiding and implementing the Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation strategy of FIPS-Africa. This includes: preparation of log-frames and project monitoring plans; preparation of performance reports for donors including supervising the routine collection of data; supervising the team of Field Monitoring staff and undertaking regular field visits to support the implementation of the M&E system; sharing key M&E findings with senior management to improve implementation; designing and implementing impact assessment and baseline studies; collaborating on M&E matters with external stakeholders.
The officer will also guide the Communications strategy of FIPS-Africa. This includes managing a team of journalists to ensure that information and stories are collected in line with requirements and editing content.
The position is based in Kenya, however the officer will be required to provide guidance and build the capacity of staff in FIPS-Africa’s other countries of operation.
Required Competencies and Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in development, agriculture, natural sciences or a related field.
• 5 years’ experience in an M&E role within a development organisation with 2 years at management level. This should include experience with the logical framework approach, M&E methods and approaches, planning and implementing M&E systems, designing data collection tools and sample methodologies.
• Experience of information analysis and report-writing including awareness of statistics.
• Computer data processing skills, specifically Excel.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a variety of styles, including excellent written English.
• Willingness to undertake field visits including in remote areas.
Desirable additional qualities include experience of USAID systems, knowledge of agriculture and rural development, advanced statistical skills and ability to communicate in Kiswahili.
Remuneration:
Remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications and experience.
