ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Field Operations Assistant will be a key member of the Field Operations team when fulfilling the following roles:
• Supervision and implementation of day to day maintenance and operational tasks and special projects as determined by management. • Ensuring the upkeep of all motorized equipment, tools and any other equipment beyond their normal lifespan. • Supervision and upkeep of two spares stores. • Implementation of daily fleet programs as determined by management including driving as and when required. • Infrastructure maintenance including but not limited to buildings, bomas, gardens, fences, pumps, masts and roads. • Administration and record keeping related to maintenance, workshop operations, procurement and stocks.
Assisting with any other reasonable tasks outside of the scope of work mentioned above as required from time to time by management.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
• Previous experience in operational activities associated with the management of protected areas. • Demonstrable experience on maintenance and repairs of motorised equipment including vehicles, motorbikes and outboard engines. • Demonstrable technical ability related to infrastructure maintenance in protected areas. • Demonstrable experience in stock takes, control and record keeping and use of computers. • Previous experience in the implementation of fleet operations in protected areas. • Strong personal integrity and dependability, good people skills and ability to supervise and motivate staff effectively. • Highly organized, disciplined, self-motivated, flexible, eager to learn and take on new tasks. • Ability to forecast, plan and problem solve, and work effectively under pressure and to work effectively with minimum supervision. • Ability to work in remote and physically demanding circumstances. • Ability to drive cars, motorbikes and boats. This position may also: • require travel within the Kalabo district, specifically Liuwa Plain National Park. • require evening and weekend hours.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Accredited technical qualification/s on maintenance and repairs of motorised equipment including vehicles, motorbikes and outboard engines, and/or accredited qualifications on infrastructure maintenance and construction. • Basic computer literacy and competency on Microsoft Office Software. • A valid driving license.
