Contract Duration
General Temporary Assistance until 31 December 2013, with the possibility of extension, subject to availability of funds and in accordance with the duration of the project permanent premises. Probationary period may be applicable.
This position is directly linked to the ICC project for the Permanent Premises and subject to annual funding. Entry on duty date is to be determined.
A roster of suitable candidates may be established for this post as a result of this selection process for both fixed-term established and general temporary assistance posts.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Database Administrator, the Associate Database Administrator will be responsible for the management of several databases. This involves installation, tuning, optimization and requirement evaluation. The incumbent will, through adherence to standard procedures, analyze required changes to environments forecasting data growth and transaction volumes. In addition the role will include elements of Project Management and design.
1. Ensure that required capacity of databases for development, test and production environment is available as required
2. Assist in the development of strategies for database optimization
3. Assist in the training and development of technical support staff to better utilize Database Enterprise computing
4. Provide guidance at database level during development and enhancement of the court's database environment.
5. Assist in the general management of the ICT technical infrastructure
6. Supports backup and recovery operation of the database environments
Essential Qualifications
- A first level university degree in relevant subjects such as Computer Science or Information Systems.
- At least 4 years (2 years with an advanced university degree) of progressively responsible experience in the area of database management, design and administration.
- Experience in managing mid-to-large technical projects. Experience in the design of large technical infrastructures would be considered an asset.
- Clear and effective writing skills.
- Should have experience in oracle and SQL Server platforms.
- Software development skills will be considered an asset.
- Windows System Administration experience will be considered an asset
- Experience and/or certification on formal Project Management frameworks (such as Prince2 and/or PMBOK) will be considered an asset.
- Experience and/or certification on ITIL Service Management framework will be considered an asset.

Language requirements
Fluency in either of the working languages of the Court, English or French, is essential. Working knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court would be considered an asset. (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish)
