International Medical Corps is currently implementing approximately 15 programs across seven sites in South Sudan – focused on primary health care, secondary health care, emergency medicine, maternal/child health, HIV/AIDS, WASH, nutrition and health systems strengthening.
JOB SUMMARY The primary function of the Emergency Program Officer includes supporting the Country Director in the collection of data, provide program development support, edit and compile reports for emergency and overall country programs. The Emergency Programs Officer will be based in Juba with support to emergency programs in the field.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor to review, edit, submit and file internal and external reports and evaluations; • Collect data from field and compile into reports (monthly, donor, etc.); • Provide program development support including writing/editing concept notes, undertaking research; working on proposals, collecting information, etc. • Liaise with HQ, Juba office and field sites and ensure proper communication regarding new initiatives, program updates, monthly management reports, etc; • Provide assistance to the logistics department in Juba, particularly regarding accommodations, transport and arrival support for expatriates and visitors from abroad and from field sites; • Support the development of internal and external communications materials; • Provide support to field sites, including on-site support in remote/hardship locations; • Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree in public health, international development or other relevant field. Master’s degree preferred; • Experience with NGOs on donor-funded programs, including report writing/editing, development of communications materials, etc.; • Minimum one year of international experience. Background in a hardship and/or post-conflict setting preferred; • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and organizational skills; • Detail oriented team player with excellent oral and written communication skills; • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision. • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. • Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations. • Willing and able to travel within South Sudan, sometimes to remote locations with limited comforts.
