PSI seeks highly qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Chief of Party-Burundi Integrated Health Project (BIHP). The goal of the BIHP is to assist the Government of Burundi, communities, and civil society to improve the health status of Burundians through increasing the use of quality integrated health and support services, underpinned by strengthened health systems and structures. The candidate will support the Chief of Party in implementation of the BIHP with components in the areas of HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, malaria, and maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH). This full-time position is based in Bujumbura, Burundi and reports to the BHIP Chief of Party. *Note that this position is contingent upon funding and donor approval.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the design and implementation of the USAID funded Burundi Integrated Health Project; • Ensure the development and implementation of annual workplans and budgets, ensuring USAID and project priorities are addressed and budget compliance is achieved • Monitor activities to meet performance targets; • Manage project staff and supervise partner organizations and sub-grantees; • Provide financial management and high quality donor reporting; • Develop project logical frameworks using PSI’s applicable standards and monitor their performance; • Use research results to identify priorities and drive intervention strategies in relevant areas; • Identify market needs and new opportunities and develop strategies that would ensure reliable testing and scalability; • Identify and pursue opportunities to implement and further develop existing innovations, as well as new ones; • Build the capacity of PSI/Burundi staff to implement the project effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS: • Masters Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; • At least three years of INGO work experience in a developing country; • Experience managing USAID funded projects, including managing a diverse team; • Excellent relationship management skills, proactivity, diplomacy and confidence;
• Minimum 5 years demonstrated program management experience; • Familiarity with international health, development issues and the international donor community; • Technical expertise in the area of social marketing, HIV, reproductive health, maternal and/or child health; • Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills; • Excellent leadership, coordination and multi-tasking skills; • Fluency in spoken and written French and English; • Fluency in Kirundi preferred.
