CARE is seeking an experienced Manager of Web Content to coordinate and produce compelling web content. She/he will be part of a team responsible for messaging (tone, style and content), packaging, placement and other critical factors that shape the world's perception of CARE and it's work. Web content strategy is driven by CARE's overall fundraising, marketing and communications strategies, with the ultimate goals of raising money from the public for CARE's work and engaging constituents in meaningful ways through social networking, advocacy and peer to peer interactions. To assist with these goals the Web Content Manager helps plan, coordinate, write, edit and otherwise manage the site's day to day textual, graphical, photographic and video content, working closely with the Director of Online Communications, the Manager of Web Development, web designers, members of the Direct Response team and other content producers from across the organization. He or she will be responsible for helping to meet fundraising goals through web and e-mail, as this position plays a major role in engaging constituents with CARE by bringing our globally distributed work in the field to life with compelling web content and fundraising and advocacy campaigns. The Web Content Manager is also responsible for ensuring that our site stays fresh and dynamic, and that web content is accurate, up to date, interesting, compelling, informative and reflective of CARE's brand. Successful content will drive more traffic to our site, ultimately yield more online donations and advocacy actions, and help CARE build a movement dedicated to fighting global poverty. Carefully created and well tended content will also help position CARE as a more credible, dependable and unique information resource for donors, partners, the media and other constituents. Therefore this job is a key one for the future health of the organization.

Our main web site at www.care.org is one of the main vehicles by which we make the world aware of this important work and engage many different types of constituents to become a part of it (~6 Million visits in FY10).
Principal Responsibilities:
- Drive and coordinate content for the CARE Web site, ensuring that it is kept fresh, compelling and relevant at regular intervals and that it supports web fundraising and advocacy campaigns and goals.
- Manage, coordinate, write and edit fundraising, advocacy and marketing e-mail messages as part of routinely planned constituent cultivation campaigns.
- Organize and produce web content for various types of web marketing efforts routinely planned and executed in support of strategic campaigning online.
- Create and execute, with the help of the web team and in collaboration with the Director of Online Communications, plans for the routine workflow, coordination and day to day business processes of web content and e-mail production.
- Continuously review all sections of CARE's Web site, modifying content as warranted, retiring outdated content to the archives, actively seeking opportunities to add new content, and creating innovative ways to present content.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Basic training in content management systems for major web sites
- At least 5 years of Web-specific Content Management experience. Coordinating the production and workflow of written, graphical and rich media content for a web site of mid-level or major prominence for business or non-profit
- 8 or more years of overall writing/editing experience, preferably for a nonprofit organization in the service of fundraising or advocacy work
- Proven experience in Web content writing/editing for a live site
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Superb planning and organizing
- Basic knowledge of HTML or web development applications such as Dreamweaver
- Basic experience with online customer relationship management systems (Get Active, Convio, Kintera as non-profit examples) and online content management systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite

- Experience training various Web content producers to use content management systems to contribute to web content
