Job Title: Economic Empowerment Officer Reports to: Economic Empowerment Coordinator Salary: Negotiable Background Moving the Goalposts (MTG) is an innovative Community Based Organization that uses football to provide opportunities for GIRLS to fulfill their potential. MTG has built up a solid reputation as an effective grass roots organization, committed to the well being of young women and girls. It is based in Kilifi district but carries out its activities in Kilifi, Kaloleni and Ganze Districts in Coast Province. Started in 2001 with one volunteer staff member and six girls’ football teams, MTG is now a strong and accountable organization reaching out to approximately 3000 girls in more than 150 girls’ football teams (http://www.mtgk.org) with a core value of girls’ participation in programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. It has 20 staff members with 16 working directly on programmes and 4 support staff. Purpose of the job To Assist the Coordination of MTG’s Pathway Project Main Responsibilities: 1. Organizing and facilitating meetings with out of school girls in the project area for needs assessment. 2. One to one guidance for out of school girls and their parents to pursue careers in different fields and to go back to school 3. Organizing activities e.g. career guidance in liaison with relevant stakeholders to support girl’s access opportunities. 4. Supporting girls to start income generating activities 5. Field visits to monitor and support businesses implemented by the girls and documenting reports. 6. Identify other partners and organizations that MTG can work with in supporting girls’ education. 7. Identify, network and evaluate vocational training institutions that can partner with MTG 8. Closely monitoring all direct beneficiaries and document their progress. 9. Write quality and timely reports for the project (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually) 10. Prepare and execute work plans and budgets for the project 11. Document and share best practices. Person specifications • Three to five years hands on experience in working with communities preferably on Economic Empowerment Programmes. • Diploma in Business Management or a related course • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with fluency in Kiswahili and English • Excellent IT skills • Adaptable, innovative and well organized • A commitment to promote girls' rights • A good understanding of the local community in the larger Kilifi County is an added advantage Application process Please send your CV with a covering letter explaining how you meet the criteria for the post to info@mtgk.org by Wednesday December, 9th 2011.
