Vice President, Communications & Community Partnership
A Place of Mind – Support Thinking that Can Change the World
The University of British Columbia (UBC) generates ideas that change the way people think and the way the world works. As the new VP, Communications & Community Partnership, you can provide strategic leadership and support the University as it tells its many stories in a compelling way while engaging with people in BC, Canada and around the world. Independently ranked among the top forty universities in the world, UBC is home to 53,000 students, 14,000 faculty members and staff, and 260,000 alumni.
Reporting to the President, you will lead a broad portfolio that includes communications, marketing, community engagement, government relations and public affairs. In addition to your cross functional team of 70, you will also work with and counsel a wide array of communications specialists and those involved in community engagement embedded in the University’s faculties and centres. Your initial mandate will involve engaging internal partners in the process of envisioning a communication and community plan that mirrors the University’s strategic goals.
During your executive leadership in a complex private sector, public sector, NGO or
not-for-profit organization, you have taken ownership of the organization’s reputation and grown its profile among, and engagement with, all of its stakeholders. A proven thought leader and functional expert, your experience will allow you to act as a close advisor to the President and other senior leaders across the University.
