The KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Research Programme has a strong record of conducting high quality clinical research in a broad range of settings. This includes clinical epidemiology, bed side pathophysiology and clinical trials of existing and new treatments and vaccines that are urgently needed for diseases that present a high burden for developing countries.
We are looking for a senior Clinical Research Paediatrician to work with other senior researchers in the programme to ensure that it fulfils its potential as a leading centre for clinical research in Africa. The postholder will act as principal investigator on a range of newly developed clinical research studies and will lead on leveraging external funding sources to support the further development of clinical research activities in the programme. The postholder will work closely with the head of training to develop new approaches to training in research for clinicians and will provide mentorship for the clinical researchers at the Programme.
To excel in this position, you will have a PhD or equivalent in a field related to health research with a proven track record in initiating and conducting clinical research and have significant experience of leading clinical research in Africa. Strong diplomatic skills, proven oral and written presentation skills are essential. Training in a paediatric sub speciality is desirable.
The post is available for three years in the first instance.
