Each year millions of people around the world feel the effects of natural disaster and conflict. RedR is an international charity that improves the effectiveness of disaster relief, helping save and rebuild the lives of people affected by disaster worldwide.
THE ROLE
RedR has been providing training in safety, security and risk management for humanitarian organisations in Darfur since January 2005. We deliver essential training across Sudan; in Khartoum, El Fasher, Nyala and El Geneina to ensure aid workers have the knowledge and skills to best protect them in an emergency or hostile situation. Currently RedR have two training programmes; Staff Safety and Staff Welfare.
We are now seeking to recruit a Training Team Leader to lead the training activities in North Darfur. This will include convening and delivering external training events for the Staff Safety Programme, as well as supporting the programme and developing local capacities. PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Solid experience in field of training in safety/security related subjects is essential
• Tertiary qualification in Education, Training or other relevant subject area. Professional, accredited certificates in training are also accepted.
• Proven record of excellent people skills, including good communication and inter-personal skills
• Understanding and experience in facilitation of training in foreign cultures.
• Commitment to humanitarian relief and knowledge of the sector
• Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to adapt to different contexts
• Good written and spoken English
• Willingness to learn basic Arabic in order to communicate with others
• Willingness and ability to travel within Sudan
• Knowledge of working in Arabic dominant cultures
• Working experience in Sudan is desirable

• Salary: £23,340p/a (plus £2,200 p/a living allowance)
