The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations, dedicated to the promotion of innovation and creativity through a balanced and effective international intellectual property system, through cooperation among States and, where appropriate, in collaboration with any other international organization, with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Independent Advisory Oversight Committee of WIPO (IAOC) is an independent, expert advisory and external oversight body, which assists WIPO’s Member States in their role of oversight and better exercise of their governance responsibilities with respect to the various operations of WIPO.
The IAOC is composed of seven members, representing, to the extent possible, each of the seven geographical regions of WIPO Member States. All members of the IAOC act in an independent non-executive capacity while performing their functions. Once selected, members shall serve in their personal capacity for a term of three years, renewable once.
WIPO is seeking applications for five positions on the IAOC. With a view to representation of each of the seven Groups of Member States of WIPO on the IAOC, priority will be given to candidates from the Member States that are listed in the Vacancy Announcement available athttps://erecruit.wipo.int.
Service on the IAOC is without remuneration, but members shall be provided with travel and subsistence expenses in line with WIPO travel policy to attend quarterly meetings in Geneva.
Applicants should have relevant qualifications and experience, for example in auditing, accounting, risk management, legal affairs, or finance and administration, preferably in an international organization or the public sector, together with other competencies expected to be demonstrated by the IAOC collectively.
