Unilever Tea Tanzania Limited is a plantation company operating under Unilever Tea, East Africa (UTEA). UTTL employs over 5,500 employees whose safety and security are very important to the business.
We are currently looking to hire Mechanical Technician, for our Tanzania business. This role will be both office and field based and requires candidates with knowledge for the job. If you are looking for a career in Unilever then you are the person we are looking for.

Business context and main purpose of the job
1. Train and develop all staff in mechanical engines and pumping systems
2. Ensures that the company engines and pumps are maintained and functions within company and legal standards: and maintains log book of all maintenance jobs
3. Maintain safe working atmosphere of the equipment, engines pumps and co-workers and contributes to hazards reporting process of any facility, unit or department
4. Follows the spare parts management procedure and submits weekly maintenance and breakdown reports
5. Maintain and carries troubleshooting of defective engines and pumps, to support mechanical artisans in various positions (Both in engineering and factories)
6. Participate in maintenance meetings of factories and engineering operations, and implement continuous improvement assignments on factories machinery matters
7. Implement SHEQ recommendations in all areas of compliance to safe operations of engines and pumps and drives BeSafE agenda on machinery guarding standards
Main Accountabilities
1. Responsible for management of mechanical workshops (incl. MH/irrigation engines), productivity improvement & ensure high standards of mechanical maintenance are achieved
2. Responsible for management of safety, quality and environmental care in all areas of mechanical function
3. Responsible for the implementation of WCM in mechanical engineering systems
4. Implement all company procedures in all areas of his accountability
5. Takes charge of engineering requirement and maintenance of company stand by generators; water distribution and any other role as may be defined from time to time by Site Engineer
Relevant Skills and Experience
1. Equipment Safety regulations
2. Mechanical systems
3. Hydraulics systems
4. Interpretations and use of drawings
5. Diploma in mechanical engineering
6. Teamwork and good communication
7. 3 – 5 years experience in similar operations
