Oryx Oil Company Limited distributes fuel and Lubricants to key Clients across Tanzania and Neighboring Countries. We have a exciting opportunity for a self- driven and enthusiastic person to join our team as LABORATORY MANAGER. Job purpose To oversee the management of the LOBP Laboratory: Effective quality control and assurance of both the raw materials and the finish products; perform blend studies to develop and adapt Oryx Engineers and our customers product formulations; Development and implementation of Good Laboratory Practices; Compliance with existing Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality Management System. MAIN TASK LIST • Responsible and accountable for performance management monitoring and continual development of the laboratory related systems and processes. • Oversee Quality Control of all incoming raw materials (base oils and additives) and finish products and other petroleum products to ensure they conform to given specifications. • Oversee to ensure accurate, timely and reliable test results. • Responsible and accountable effective testing of customer products and provision of analysis reports and recommendations. • Responsible and accountable efficient resource utilization , planning and control of applicable budget and expenditure. • Responsible and accountable for development and effective implementation of lab procedures. • Oversee timely submission and accuracy of daily, weekly and monthly statistics and reports. • Oversee to ensure effective housekeeping, safety and security of lab equipment and products. • Development and review of product formulations for the Lubricant Business Manager. • Responsible and accountable for effective interpretation and recommendation of test results. • Continuity develop innovate new methods and improve existing methods. • Respond to inquires and complains, interview customers, and collect samples and report findings and recommendations.
Qualification:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• University Degree in chemistry/chemical and process Engineering/petroleum Technology or related field.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory position in any laboratory and in a Lube Oil Blending Plant.
• Minimum 3 years experience in conducting variety of tests in a chemical laboratory.
• Competent in management systems aligned to ISO 14001,ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 17025.
• Competent in laboratory inspection and measurement systems and software.
• Competent in computer MS Office Application.
• Must be able to work under minimum Supervision.
KEY COMPETENCES
• Ability to develop and implement laboratory related strategies.
• Ability to train and motivate lab staff so as to achieve maximum results through them.
• Ability to trouble shoot faults with lab equipment.
• Ability to develop and implement test and calibration procedures.
• Ability to identify lab equipment needs and justify the same.
• Ability to work flexible schedule and weekends as needed
• Ability to operate complex laboratory equipment.
