In Ethiopia the quality of the health service is generally poor. One of the contributing factors is poor hospital management systems. Taking this into consideration, the Ministry of Health has developed Ethiopian Hospital Reform Implementation Guidelines with the purpose of improving the hospital management systems and thereby improve the quality of the health services.
 

What does the role involve?

• Oversee the implementation of the Ethiopian Hospital Reform Implementation Guidelines
• Mentor and provide supportive supervision to Hawassa hospital for improved implementation of the guidelines
• Monitor the guidelines implementation progress based on tools developed for this purpose and report the same
• Organize patient and staff surveys to assess patient and staff satisfaction and identify areas for improvement    using tools devised by Ethiopian Health Management Initiative.
 

Skills, qualifications and experience required

• BSc degree (or higher) Hospital Management;
• relevant experience preferably in organizational change management;
• experience in monitoring and evaluation.

You will be based in Hawassa. Hawassa is 270km from Addis Ababa where the program office is based. On average, Addis is about 5-6 hours drive depending on the condition of the public bus. It has approximately 100,000 inhabitants and sits beside one of the Rift Valley lakes at about 5,000 feet above sea level. Hawassa lies on the main road joining Ethiopia to Kenya. The climate is normally very pleasant, with daytime temperatures ranging between 22 and 30 degrees.
