Women Legal Aid Centre (WLAC) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in November 1994 as a company without shares limited by guarantee. It envisages a just society that respects women and children’s rights.

WLAC is inviting a suitably qualified Tanzanian candidate to fill the following position on contractual basis.

Job Title: Volunteer Legal officer (1 Post)

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate applying for this post should have the following minimum qualifications:

·         Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

·         Must have completed law  school

·         Work experience of not less than two years is required

·          Proven networking, team building and communication skills.

·         Self –starter with demonstrated minimal supervision to consider priorities and proven time sensitive

·         Must be computer literate

Note: Volunteerism spirit as an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibility

·         Provide legal Aid to clients

·         Counseling and educate clients on their legal and human rights

·         Interviewing clients to establish fact of the clients complaints

·         Conduct legal research  and drafting  legal document for clients

·         Reconciling clients when there is a need to do so

·         Coaching clients to make follow up and defend their cases in court

·         Assist client to make follow up of the cases in courts, tribunals and other relevant institution as and when needed

·         Prepare monthly reports

·         Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor, manager or Executive Director.

   Remuneration

 Competitive allowance will be offered to a successful candidate for the above position basing on qualification and experience and other benefits commensurate with WLAC’S remuneration schemes.
