Mothers2mothers (m2m) is a rapidly growing and innovative organisation dedicated to providing education and support to pregnant women and mothers living with HIV, reducing and preventing mother-to-child transmission as well as keeping mothers with HIV healthy and alive to care for their families. m2m currently operates in 7 countries in Africa and receives funding from a diverse set of international funders. We seek a dedicated professional to join our dynamic Business Development Team in the role outlined below:
PURPOSE:
The Business Development Grants Officer will contribute to the Business Development team’s goals to secure the funding for our operations and to coordinate new initiatives. This position reports to the Senior Business Development Manager, and works closely with Business Development colleagues, Finance and the Programme and Technical Support departments. Please note: this position is contingent on funding.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare narrative proposals and concept papers to solicit new program or project funds
• Prepare accompanying budgets for new proposals, in collaboration with finance, programme and other departments
• Work as a member of an international development team to identify new potential funding opportunities (e.g. scanning websites, research & monitoring for new opportunities, participation in partner/funder meetings, etc.)
• Assist with strategic needs analysis for future funding within countries/regions or across regions, or for cross-cutting interdepartmental opportunities
• Edit, coordinate or write narrative and financial reports for submission to current partners/donors
• Perform project management and/or coordination for specific donors or segments of work, either within a region or cross-cutting across regions
• Participate in interdepartmental working groups to support program development
• Liaise across organizational departments to support the Business Development team
• Conduct desk research and other tasks as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in public health, social studies or related field with 6-8 years relevant experience or
• Master’s Degree in public health, social studies or related field with 4-5 years relevant work experience in a related field
• Experience in the preparation of proposals and budgets for multilateral donors, trusts and foundations
• Master’s Degree in public health, social studies or related field with 4-5 years relevant work experience in a related field
• Experience in the preparation of proposals and budgets for multilateral donors, trusts and foundations
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Excellent report writing and editing abilities required
• Strong financial planning, budgeting and analytical skills required, including extensive Excel spreadsheet experience.
• Familiarity with programmatic M&E reporting required
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work as part of a team
• Proven ability to work under pressure and time constraints to meet strict deadlines
• Dynamism, flexibility, and creativity are strongly valued
• Fluency in English is required, additional indigenous or continental languages an advantage

The position is based in Cape Town, South Africa with possible opportunities for travel.
