Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) is an umbrella organization that aims to develop a global network including government representatives, financial service providers, multilaterals, NGOs, academics, private foundations and other communities of practice focusing on financial products and skills development for young people. Through the development of this multi-stakeholder movement, CYFI hopes to increase the exposure of children throughout the world to quality social and financial education and financial products that contribute to their personal development.
The intern will make an important contribution to the development of this global network of stakeholders, assisting the secretariat in promoting the goals and objectives of the Child and Youth Finance International movement. The internship takes place at the CYFI Secretariat in Amsterdam, where the intern will work as a member of the team. The internship is full time with vacation leave and sick leave according to Dutch standards.

The objectives of this internship are as follows:
• To assist in the establishment of CYFI as an international movement that focuses on improving access to financial services and social and financial education for children around the world
• To assist in the development of work streams that address key issues related to educational benchmarks, performance indicators, technological innovations, financial services and promotional opportunities for relevant programming in the field
• To assist in the compiling of resources in the field of CYFI and social/financial education for children and to contribute to CF publications as appropriate
• To assist in the logistical and technical planning for CYFI working group meetings to be hosted in Amsterdam or other international locations for the remainder of 2011.

• Exploring alternative models for education and teacher training that integrate technological innovations
• Assisting in the development of a curriculum benchmarks document for learning in child social, financial and livelihoods education
• Assisting in the development of the CYFI network in the field and in the roll out of National CYFI platforms at the country level
• Contributing to discussions and managing resources posted on the CYFI website.
• Contributing to the production of CYFI reports, publications and promotional materials.
• Organization and facilitation of sessions for international CYFI meetings
• Managing contacts within the private, public and NGO sectors with a stake in the global CYFI movement

Ideally we are looking for a student intern that fits this criteria:
• Completion (or near completion) of undergraduate degree in education, finance, economics, political science, international development or other relevant field
• Working experience in international development or the education sector is a strong asset
• Fluency in English. Knowledge of one or more other languages would also be a strength (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese)
• Excellent Communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability and willingness to operate on a multicultural team within a start up organization that can be a bit chaotic at times.
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Experience working or traveling overseas is a strength
• An entrepreneurial, creative, flexible and proactive person who is able to "think outside the box"
