Assistant Commissioner - Board Affairs, Legal Opinions and Conveyancing Services
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring the review and implementation of procedures, tactics and work plans for the Section.
- Ensuring the drafting of the budget and consolidation of the Annual Training, Procurement and Disposal Plans.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Ensuring utilization of funds.
- Supervising the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of the Performance Contracts of staff in the unit.
- Providing legal advice and secretarial services.
- Drafting/Vetting all legal instruments and documents.
- Monitoring changes in the regulatory environment.
- Drafting of contracts, leases, agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs).
- Carrying out research and review of the existing laws that impact on the Authority’s core business.
- Supervising staff in the unit.
- Any other relevant duties assigned.
Requirements for Appointment
Academic and professional qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University.
- Masters Degree will be an added advantage.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Law (KSL)
- Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- A Certified Public Secretary of Kenya (CPS - K)
- Middle level Management training courses.
- Membership to a relevant professional body.
- Must have at least six (6) years experience, four (4) of which must be in middle management in a comparable organization.
