Akuem, South Sudan - The Base Manager, Akuem is responsible for establishing and maintaining a smooth functioning support base. This includes inventory management and tracking, national staff management, resolving technical issues, as well as community relations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Inventory Management: maintain organized storage and warehousing, oversee the national staff inventory managers, oversee permanent asset tracking and Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (SPIR) tag upkeep. • Manage the Compound Supervisor and Logistician: ensure good facility upkeep, ensure the compound is clean and conditions are kept sanitary, maintain base stock levels of household supplies (i.e. toilet paper, soap, chairs etc.), ensure Casual Laborers are being managed well, oversee scheduling for guards, cooks, cleaners, water carriers and other compound staff, conduct performance evaluations for base staff. • Manage the Akuem Technical Assistant: assign tasks and follow up on progress, enforce high quality work standards, ensure a weekly report on technical issues is being produced, ensure that all base tech systems are working. • Arrange guest accommodation. • Ensure that all staff accommodations are up to a comfortable standard. • Manage Akuem community relations. • Implement base safety and security practices. • Maintain emergency stocks of food, water, and fuel. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and the training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred. • Demonstrated management experience in a developing country. • Experience in financial and/or human resource management. • Firm understanding of logistics, procurement and inventory systems. • Strong organizational skills and strong cross cultural communication skills. • Experienced in cross-cultural team leadership. • Must be a humble team player with the ability to be flexible and adaptable. • Willingness to travel in and out of the field and willingness to stay in the field for extended periods. • Experience in information technology, electrical systems, plumbing or general construction is desired. • Arabic language skills preferred but not required.
24 month contract with the potential for renewal.
