Emergency and seasonal Programmes Manager
Responsible to : Head of Programmes
Location : Khartoum
Contract Duration : 12 Months – Renewable upon mutual agreement and availability of funding for the job
Salary : 3,00 SDG
Purpose of the post
The Manager will be responsible for the design development and implementation of effective emergency and seasonal programme interventions , and the management and development of staff and resources under the programme in accordance with the strategy and business plans
- Main Responsibilities
Under the directions and supervision of the Head of Programmes :
- To develop an agreed programme strategy and operational plans for the emergency and seasonal programmes
- To design and prepare proposals for programme interventions and seek and / or identify sources of funding for new programmes .
- To manage all aspects of the porogramme including technical support and supervision and the development of effective monitoring evaluation and reporting systems
- To prepare regular reports on programme activities and programme donors and quarterly reports as agreed
- To represent and liaise with key partners in both the government and NGO s and providing support for appropriate capacity building to partner NGO s
- To develop good working relationship with a number of international NGO s funders and senior managers of government departments .
- To ensure effective management , support and development of all staff engaged by Muslim Aid in the programme work
- To ensure budget responsibility for all active projects that s/he is managing and ensure sound financial monitoring and accountability of the project
- To ensure that the Red Cross Code of Conduct is properly understood by all project staff and fully implemented in the programme area
- To maintain strong links with community leaders , government , NGOs , etc
- To work with the Head of programmes to draw up the development programmes strategy and ensuring cohesion between Country and organizational objectives
- To contribute to the risk management strategy and ensure that risk management is an on – going process in all relevant programmes
- To work collaboratively with other teams within Muslim Aid to ensure consistent approach to development programmes
- To monitor standers and criteria for programme development in line with organizational plans and priorities
- To assist with programme audits and assessments where necessary
- To assist the Head of Programme development operate within a sound financial management framework
- Any other duties commensurate with the accountabilities of the post
Qualifications
a university degree in management ,social science , international development planning , or related field
Experience
b) At least 3-5 years experience in successfully developing and managing development programmes
c) Proven management , programme appraisal , development and monitoring and impact assessment skills .
d) Proven experience of drafting and writing project documents or proposals ;
e) Knowledge or experience of NGO s
f) Good human resource development and management ;
g) Ability to develop linkages with NGOs Government agencies Institutional donors and other stakeholders
h) Culturally sensitive and high level of diplomacy and tact
i) Strong written and verbal communication skills in English ;
j) Demonstrated ability for strategic thinking and analysis ;
k) strong coordination and negotiation skills with stakeholders ;
I) Proven technical competencies in the design of development and emergency intervention programme as well as sound financial skills (e.g; budgeting )
m) Work experience in multi cultural environments
n).Positive approach to problem solving
o) Able to engender credibility , confidence and respectability ;;and
p) A focus on results , balanced with a sensitive and honest approach to people Good written and oral communication skills
q) Tact and diplomacy at all times
