Christian Aid manages the Civil Society Fund (CSF) Programme in DRC ( http://www.fsc-rdc.org/ ). The CSF is an independent funding mechanism for supporting civil society to channel the interests of the population, promote good governance and hold the Government to account. CSF is funded by UKaid from the Department for International Development (DFID) and SIDA. It is a consortium led by Christian Aid.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate who is both a proven leader and experienced strategic manager to head up the CSF team and deliver the next phase of the programme. This is a rare opportunity to influence, shape and support the development of civil society in DRC. In-depth knowledge of DRC is required as is strong leadership experience. CSF should become an autonomous ongoing body by the end of the programme in July 2014. The role advertised is for the period to end of July 2014 with the possibility of extension in this eventuality.
As Programme Director you will be responsible for overall representation, strategic leadership and operational management of the high profile CSF programme. You will develop, implement and deliver a successful, integrated multi-sectoral programme to achieve memorable outcomes in the creation of a strong and positive civil society. You will promote, articulate, and ensure a common program vision and strategy among the civil society organizations, while ensuring effective implementation and timely submission of all deliverables.
The successful candidate will be a superb communicator and strategic thinker, able to think creatively outside the box, and proactively find solutions in the face of an ambitious programme. You know and understand culture and civil society in DRC, and have substantial experience of working with Congolese CSOs, and the International Donor Community. Extensive experience of managing large complex multi-partner development programmes is a pre-requisite, along with proven management and leadership experience. You will have a post-graduate Degree in an international development-related subject, ideally with advanced qualifications in Management or Finance.
