In order to achieve this objective, the African Union intends to strengthen its capacity and performance, among other things, the implementation of the new organizational structure and the filling of all vacant posts.
Accordingly, the Commission calls on all citizens of the African Union Member States to submit their applications for the position of Public Relations Officer.
1. Position:
Position Title: Public Relations Officer.
Level position: m 2

Section: African Centre for Studies and Research on Terrorism
Duty Station: Algiers, Algeria.
2. Objectives of the position:
Identify and implement action programs for public relations strategy in the African Centre for Studies and Research on Terrorism.
3. Tasks and responsibilities:
• Provide support on strategic and tactical public relations for the various units of the African Centre for Studies and Research on Terrorism.
• preparation of materials and communication programs to the center points of coordination in the Member States affected.
• communicate with non-coordinating center (the experts, the public and researchers, etc.) and so on growing their roles in preventing and combating terrorism through quarterly newsletters and direct meetings and chat on websites, etc.. .
• Management of media training for key personnel when necessary.
• Assist in monitoring and analysis of media coverage and reports submitted.
• Provide clerical support for public relations.
• Assist in the preparation of press releases and media to correct errors and articles and books with a signature white. .
• coordinating and drafting responses to press inquiries in a timely manner.
• Provide expert advice to the Centre and the preparation of talking points for interviews with the media.
• act as a preliminary with the local media through the representation of place in the press conferences.
• Planning and coordination of press events.
• securing positive media coverage and building effective relationships with print media and broadcast locally and internationally.
• seek opportunities to speak that promote the appropriate participation of the Centre where his reputation and help him to accomplish his tasks.
• the establishment of relations of open and close working relationships and maintain them and with all units and provide the latest developments when appropriate.
• Perform other tasks assigned.
4. Educational qualifications are required:
The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree and a minimum in the press, public relations, international affairs or other areas relevant contact.
5. Practical experience required:
Must have the candidates five (5) years minimum of successful relations with the media to add to 7 or more years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, marketing institutions or the role of public relations and relations with the media. The previous experience with the African Union or other international institutions an advantage.
6. Relevant skills required:
• exceptional skills in leadership, relationship building, strategic planning and motivational skills.
• the ability to speak impromptu in front of a large group of attendees
• professional image in addition to exceptional skills in oral and written communication, editorial skills, project management, and organization skills and interpersonal communication and time management.
• Commitment to diversity and the ability to communicate and interact with diverse groups of people.
• demonstrated capacity to establish effective relationships with diverse groups of people and portraying a positive regulatory.
• Ability to work sometimes, according to a flexible schedule, including participation in special events and critical situations during evenings and weekends.
• Good knowledge of information technology and procedures for printing books.
• strongly advisable to have the ability to work under stressful conditions.
• must possess personal initiative and the ability to cope within a large organization and the efforts to move forward without the need for all the required details.
• Experience the prestigious media, including previous experience in appearing before it.

7. Languages required:
Knowledge of one of the working languages of the African Union (English, French, Arabic and Portuguese), and knowledge is one of the other working languages an advantage.
8. Age Requirement:
Preferably aged between 25-35 years old candidate.
