Tearfund is looking for an experienced Project Manager to manage the WATSAN sector of our rehabilitation projects in Baraka, South Kivu. Tearfund is implementing a number of donor funded projects in WASH and Food Security sectors. The WATSAN Project Manager is responsible for the successful construction of potable water supply systems including gravity-fed-systems, spring protection, and hand-dug wells, and the social marketing of household level sanitation. The post holder is also responsible for ensuring strong linkages and coherence with the Public Health Promotion activities to ensure that projects lead to improved beneficiary health. The successful candidate will be a qualified Engineer with significant relevant humanitarian experience in the implementation of WATSAN projects. Proven management and leadership skills, coupled with experience in project and financial management are essential. Responsibilities also include regular coordination within the UN Cluster and with other NGOs and Government departments, and in collaboration with the Area Coordinator, the writing of donor proposals and reports. Excellent written and spoken English is required, with additional spoken French or Swahili being desirable.
The candidate must be able to work in potentially insecure environments, with remote supervision, to tight timeframes. Applicants must be committed to Tearfund’s Christian beliefs. All posts involve potential contact with children and the recruitment process will include specific checks related to child protection issues.
