Position title: Logistics Officer
Location: Your normal place of work will be at the Norwegian Church Aid Compound, with provisions that MCC reserves the right to change this to any other place within Southern Sudan either for a limited or indefinite period. (off-site partner visits, out of country workshops, etc.)
Synopsis:
Logistics Officer: coordinate procurements, arranging travel, driving, logistical support, acquiring legal documentation necessary for INGO humanitarian work in Sudan.
Qualifications: (necessary skills, experience and education)
• Is able to establish and maintain strategic relationships related to job responsibilities.
• Characteristics of honesty, and trustworthiness.
• Able to accept instruction and constructive criticism
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Willingness to adapt to changes in routine and accommodate MCC guests.
• Patience to deal with frustrating situations.
• Minimum of a secondary school education.
• Safe driving record
• English speaking and writing skills
• Ability to work and complete long-term tasks without close instruction
• Relevant logistics experience preferred
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide logistical support as needed
• Drive as requested
• Make purchases and obtain materials or items as needed, providing receipts
• Provide assistance and support in domestic and work-related tasks.
• Contribute advice on certain project issues
• Facilitate verbal translation
• Working hours are generally 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday with one hour lunch. Infrequently, some situations may require additional hours and weekend work with no additional compensation.
• Attendance is required at all MCC Sudan retreats and team meetings.
Compensation
1. Beginning base wage is 1000 SDG per month paid at the end of each month unless
other arrangements are made in advance.
2. A health benefit plan as developed for all MCC Sudan nationally hired workers.
3. Other benefits as determined by MCC Sudan, in synct with MCC National Worker Policy Handbook.
Other
1. All government holidays are paid days off.
2. Annual Paid Leave, including sick days, accrues at the rate of three (3) days per month, effective January, 2009, up to 36 days in a calendar year. Paid Leave must have prior approval.
3. Unclaimed Annual Paid Leave will be paid at the fully salary, daily rate at the end of the calendar year.
4. Personal Leave may be taken without pay, with prior approval.
