Save the Children is seeking a Director of Operations in anticipation of a 4-year, $15-17 million literacy and learning program supported by USAID. The objective of the program is to improve learning in Rwanda by strengthening early grade literacy in Kinyarwanda and English, and early grade numeracy. The program will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), and will build Ministry capacity as needed. Key components of the program will include: improved quality of teaching; improved availability and use of teaching and learning materials; support for English; strengthened MoE capacity to implement activities to improve the quality of education; and improved equity in education.
The Director of Operations will lead the Finance and Support Services project team and be responsible for the financial and grant management, HR, administration, IT, logistics and procurement for the project.
- Professional accountancy qualification at Chartered Accountant level (ACCA, ACA, CPA etc.)
- At least 5 years experience in financial management
- Experience of managing USAID donor funds
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Strong analytical skills and proven ability to think strategically
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to proactively develop work-planning and monitoring tools
- Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
- Understanding of and commitment to principles of equal opportunities, non-discrimination and diversity in human resource management
- Commitment to Save the Children’s aims and principles, including the child protection policy.
