Position Summary:
Director of Knowledge Synthesis & Communication guides the following three units: Resource Centre, Data Analysis, as well as general and issue – specific communication to advance IHI’s mission. The position requires a broad-based skill set that includes outstanding analytical, managerial, strategic communications, and interpersonal abilities; broad experience in public policy; and a deep knowledge of public health and economic issues.
Reporting:
Director of Knowledge Synthesis & Communication will report to the Chief Executive Director, Ifakara Health Institute.
Responsibilities:
Direct the formulation, execution, and management of a data, policy, and analysis framework necessary for evidence based policy options using the results of our own work and those of others
Create tools and systems that will result in improved metrics to measure policy and program result
Ensure IHI scientist and researchers apply strong data, analysis, and M&E framework from the conception and implementation of a research program to the reporting of its findings.
Ensure IHI strategic work contributes to maximizing population health gain by developing data and analysis systems to study impact and inform decision-making.
Track (and report internally) current national, international, and global economic, political, social and other trends important to inform effective execution of IHI strategy.
Proactively indentify and maintain funding opportunities to help increase visibility of IHI research findings (and those of others) to boost political will for better public health policy and action.
Develop and implement a broad communication agenda to promote IHI image and create public awareness of IHI role and its function in the community.
Qualifications:
Master or PhD in statistics, public policy, economic development or applicable experience.
A minimum of 7 years management experience with significant exposure to national, international and developing world issues and public health systems.
Demonstrated success n progressive leadership roles developing and managing policy and advocacy organizations, programs, or initiatives requiring a combination of strong analytical, writing and management skills
A deep understanding of public health, with a special emphasis on policy and public affairs.
Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication and customerservice skills in complex organization involving multiple stakeholders and cultures.
Excellent leadership, diplomacy and inter-personal skills
Facilitation skills
Track record of working well with others in teams.
