Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation, forest conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks (REDD+) in developing countries is a climate change mitigation strategy and part of international agreements to reduce global greenhouse gases. It has been estimated that up to 18 per cent of all greenhouse gases result from the forest sector. The Government of Tanzania is in the process of developing a National REDD+ Strategy and the UN-REDD Programme in Tanzania is supporting the government in this endeavour.
