BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity, which uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure. In the Middle East and Europe (MEE) Team we do this with a focus on governance and rights and humanitarian response work. As Assistant Project Manager you will support a Projects Manager in the delivery of MEE projects.
Role Responsibility
This position will require you to lead and be the main point of contact in the organisation on Health research, engaging proactively and collaboratively across the organisation. You will lead on, and be responsible for, delivering Health research advice and evaluation approaches under the Global Grant, answer research questions by collating, analysing data, and aggregating insights and report on the Annual and Final review of the Grant. You’ll support Country Research Managers with the development of research by providing advice on sampling design, research instruments, templates, analysis plans, and support and guidance on analysis and interpretation. In this role, you will be responsible for aggregating insights gathered across a number of health projects and inputting into the organisational narrative on the role of media in Health development. This role will need you to support and manage relationships with external technical consultants conducting innovative quantitative and qualitative analysis across the portfolio of Health research, represent Research & Learning and BBC Media Action with external and internal stakeholders and be responsible for helping teams manage deliverables
The Ideal Candidate
This role will expect you to have strong knowledge of the key themes and development issues related to the Health research area; and have a strong understanding of research conducted in this field along with an understanding of recent trends in the Health sector. You will have significant experience in conducting and reporting Health research, strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, with experience in conducting and interpreting technical quantitative analysis as well as designing and managing mixed methods research in support of practical outcomes. You’ll have experience reporting to log frames and using various methodologies in impact evaluation and have excellent project management and a track record of delivering research findings on time and within budget. This position will need you to have previous experience in managing and motivating staff, including technical research oversight, training and building research capacity, personal development and performance management both in person and remotely, coupled with excellent written and fluent spoken English
