Jhpiego Tanzania in collaboration with other stakeholders is currently supporting Ministry of Health, Community development, gender, Elderly, and Children (henceforth referred to MoH) to implementing Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) in two regions of Lake Zone Tanzania. This program aims at improving uptake of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) through improving the quality of care by ensuring respectful gender-sensitive care across the continuum .of care and, constructively engaging men at all intervention levels (community and health facility) to mitigate gender-based violence posed by gender inequality norms and practices.
Furthermore, Jhpiego under the funding from Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada has recently started initiative called more and Better Midwives for Rural Tanzania (MBM-RTZ).
This initiative aims at fulfilling national priorities of maternal and newborn survival through addressing inadequate numbers and inequitable distribution of human resource of health for 4r midwifery care. By so doing, it will significantly contribute to quality RMNCAH through increasing women's and children's access to skilled midwifery care now and in future.
MBM-RTZ initiative will be implemented hand-n-hand with MoHDCGEC in the same catchment area 'where MCSP covers; lake and Western zone of Tanzania. Among approaches of MBM-RTZ is delivering evidence-based trainings to pre-service and in service midwifery. Gender inequality is evidenced to impend health program success, hence gender transformative awareness rising will be integral part of all trainings to tutors, preceptors and 'in-service midwifery mentors.
This position will partly support MCSP focuses mainly on respectful gender-sensitive quality
MNCAH service provision and MBM-RTZ focusing mainly on gender transformation of midwifery tutors, preceptors and mentors through training and mentorships.
M& E Officer [1 position based in Iringa]
Job Overview:
The M&E officer will be responsible for the routine monitoring of all the program indicators in alignment with the Sauti-TZ M&E plan and the performance monitoring plan. S/he will work closely with the regional data managers and central team to operate efficient systems of regional level M&E. S/he will provide timely and relevant information to Senior M&E Advisor, program and technical staff, and other project stakeholders. S/he will contribute to strengthening the M&E capacity of sub-grantees. S/he will also participate in Sauti-TZ research activities and support consultants as required.
Required Qualifications:
• University degree in demography, statistics, sociology, community development, and/or other relevant disciplines
• Post-graduate diploma in M&E desirable
• Strong computer skills; be able to run Pivot tables, SPSS .
• 3- 5 years of work experience supporting M&E of activities in one or more of the following fields, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, or family planning
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation of health and/or development projects
• Experience in monitoring and tracking performance indicators
• Experience of using database to track and record project indicators
• Experience in using qualitative and quantitative methodologies in supporting operational research
• Experience in writing monthly and quarterly data reports
• Demonstrated ability in project report writing and publications
• Ability to effectively communicate project monitoring performance indicators to partners
• Experience of working in USG funded programs in an added advantage
• Excellent written, oral and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong eye for detail.
• Effective training/facilitation skills
• Experience of working in a research environment or information-generating context.
• Demonstrated skills in working with sub-grantees to strengthen their M&E capacity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Ability to travel up to 40% of time
