Org .Setting And Reporting
This position is located in the Nairobi office of the Appeals Unit of the Administrative Law
Section, Human Resources Policy Service, Office of Human Resources Management in the
Department of Management. The incumbent reports to the Chief, Appeals Unit.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law. A first-level university
degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in
lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible legal experience is required, two of
which should be in litigation at the national or international level and should include
preparation of witnesses and first hand experience appearing before a court or tribunal or
equivalent administrative board and bodies. Experience, preferably at the international level,
in administrative and/or employment and labour law is desirable as well as experience with
the United Nations staff regulations and rules, policies, procedures and operations. Qualifying
years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first-level university degree
recognized by the United Nations.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this post, fluency in
English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN
language is an advantage.
