Currently, we are seeking for a qualified professional to serve our Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III Project (FANTA) in the capacity of Senior Technical Officer (Nutrition Technical Advisor). She/he will be based in Dare es Salaam.
FANTA works to improve nutrition and food security policies, strategies, and programs through technical support to the USAID and its partners, including host country governments, international organizations, and NGO implementing partners. Focus areas for technical assistance include maternal and child health and nutrition, HIV and other infectious diseases, food security and livelihood strengthening, agriculture and nutrition linkages, and emergency and reconstruction.
Job Summary:
The incumbent will work closely with FANTA’s Project Manager in Tanzania and HQ (US) staff to provide technical assistance to USAID/Tanzania, the Government of Tanzania and key line ministries in collaboration with UN partners, local NGOs, and other USG Implementing Partners on nutrition policies, strategies and action plans, including multi-sectoral nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive programming.
Position Responsibilities include:
• Providing technical guidance on nutrition policy, strategy and multi-sectoral action for nutrition programming;
• Collaborating in the design and management of activities with partner organizations, implementing activities, preparing written products, and reporting results;
• Developing technical resource materials for continuous scale up of NACS in health facilities and communities;
• Leading the integration of nutrition programming into national and local coordination mechanisms for scale up through PMO-RALG, LGAs, health systems and community services;
• Contributing to work plans, quarterly and annual reporting and other documentation
Position Requirements:
• Advanced degree in nutrition, public health or related discipline required.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in nutrition with knowledge of programs, technical resources, and the evidence-base of nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific programming.
• Experience working in partnership with line ministries, regional and local government authorities, INGOs, development partners and CSOs.
• Excellent writing skills in English and Swahili, with demonstrated ability to produce program guidance, tools, and materials for service providers.
• Strong program management skills.
• Ability to translate technical materials on nutrition into practical, user-friendly tools and programmatic approaches.
• Superior oral communication skills and ability to present technical information, program guidance, and policy analysis to multiple audiences.
• Strong record of working effectively and collaboratively with government officials, partner organizations and non-governmental organizations
